Key Job Responsibilities: Avery Dennison, A Fortune 500 Corporation and a leading worldwide manufacturer of materials for the office product industry, has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager.
The successful candidate will:
* Provide HR leadership and strategic direction for the Chicopee, MA manufacturing plant of approximately 250 FTEs, with an additional 100 seasonal. FTE s, in addition to the Holliston, MA distribution center (approximately 75 FTE s).
* Serves as a critical member of the leadership team for Chicopee & Holliston, reporting directly into the Site leader of these locations, with a functional link into the Office Products North America HR organization.
* Participate in the site strategy formulation and implementation process.
* Partner with the HR and site leadership teams to develop, deploy and lead key HR processes and initiatives such as staffing, performance management, training & development, compensation, talent & succession management, employee relations, policy development, etc.
* Build and maintain effective working relations with leadership team and employees to advise both on employee-related and organizational matters.
* Lead and facilitate critical change initiatives.
* Lead critical initiatives to improve talent and succession across locations, to improve organizational effectiveness.
* Analyze employee relations issues, and partner with client leadership to identify and implement solutions.
* Coach and develop local human resources staff.
* Ensure compliance with any legal or regulatory changes pertaining to labor, wage and hour, and employment laws.
* Develop Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) for assigned area and confirm linkage to plant and OPNA business strategies.
* Manage all site Labor Relations issues, including: grievance hearings, arbitration, contract negotiating, labor management meetings, etc.
Position Requirements: * BS/BA in Human Resources, Business Management, or equivalent.
* 5-7 years experience as an HR Generalist.
* Experience in manufacturing and / or distribution environment.
* Strong business acumen and analytical mindset.
* Change agent with strong facilitation skills
* Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution techniques and influencing skills.
* Results oriented; proven ability to handle multiple and competing priorities.
* Proven skill in coaching and counseling managers and employees.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to effectively leverage and execute both strategic and tactical aspects of human resources.
* Previous supervisory / leadership experience.
* Strong skills in building and developing talent.
* Sound knowledge of employment law.
* Solid background in employee relations.
* Experience in Human Resources Leadership role in a union environment.
* Some travel required.
Desired:
* Master's degree in HR, I/O Psychology, Business Administration, or related field
* Strong skills in use of continuous improvement tools (SPC, Six Sima, Lean).
* Diverse background: client and staff support roles, union & non-union experience, industry and functional.
